“ISDAR MUSTAQEL” is a bilingual (Arabic-English) paperback publication by 40 Mustaqel, an independent design studio based in Cairo, Egypt, that explores design practices with a balance of seriousness, critique, and playfulness. More than just a magazine, it serves as a platform for dialogue, experimentation, and idea generation, contributing to a design discourse rooted in the SWANA region—one that challenges Western-centric narratives and embraces diverse perspectives.

The first issue, themed “Language,” examines the intersections of graphic design and typography through the lens of sociolinguistics, script and speech, mass media, pop culture, and more.
